Tough, but rewarding

The 10th Standard Bank KAV MTB Challenge & Trail Run 2021

The 10th Standard Bank KAV MTB Challenge & Trail Run 2021 successfully took place this past weekend. Over a hundred riders and runners participated in the MTB and Trail Run Challenge this year.

Tough. Scenic. Rewarding!

For some maybe tougher than for others, but our event is not for the faint-hearted. Many riders realized that there is still plenty of room for improvement on skills and fitness, to master all the tough and technical trails in the Aus Mountains.

The event offered an 11.7 km Time Trial reserved for the Ultra Marathon riders only; a 23 km Trail Run, 27 km MTB Half Marathon, 64 km MTB Full Marathon and a 97 km MTB Ultra Marathon.

The Time Trial took place on the Saturday afternoon and was conquered respectively by Greg Chase in 00:44:16 for the men; and Courtney Liebenberg in 00:55:55 for the women. Several riders commented that this was still the toughest technical route that they have ever ridden. The Time Trial results for each rider was added to their marathon time on Sunday for an overall end result.

Thomas Miller and Anja Schroeder were the respective winners in the 23 km Trail Run. Miller improved his results from last year by six (6) minutes.
